Eternal Womanhood in Jesus
What does it mean to be a woman today?
It’s a question I’ve asked myself quite often as I’ve grown older and started trying to figure out basic life as an adult.
I’ve seen lives begun on half-a-misstep now in deep pain, confusion, and rooted in lies.
Some people are an example of how NOT to live. You probably know someone like that.
I don’t want to end up that way.
As I write this post, I’m 19 years old. I want to be intentional about how I build my life, rooted deeply and founded firmly upon the rock of Christ.
I have my whole life stretched out in front of me, however long or short God wills it to be, and I want Him to be glorified through every single iota of it.
I don’t have time or life enough to waste any of me on me. Because of what Christ has done for me on the cross, in the grave, and now in heaven interceding for me, I no longer care about this world and what it can do for or with me.
At the end of time, only 3 things will remain: God, His Word, and people.
That’s it.
When I first heard that, it blew my mind. Priority of life changes really fast when placed within that context.
And the truth is, that without God, I would have no life. Scripture tells us that it is in and through God that we have our being. Spiritually speaking, we are dead without God and His Redemption.
He has redeemed me, praise God! Now I have the opportunity to glorify Him as the woman He created me to be and through His design for women.
God is very good to women. He included them in the written genealogy of Jesus (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary). Two books of the Bible detail the stories of two women, Esther and Ruth. He established laws in the Old Testament protecting and blessing women. Jesus had female disciples whom He treated with kindness and dignity and He made sure His mother was taken care of before His death.
All over scripture you can see God loving and considering women.
All over Scripture you can see Christ being pointed to. He is our salvation. He is the reason for humanity, man and woman alike, to exist.
He’s the reason that you, dear sister, exist.
And He is the reason we can joyfully, fully, faithfully, embrace who we are, as women, in Him.
I can’t even begin to imagine what that truly means. What I do know, and don’t have to imagine, is that it’s true, it’s life-changing, and it’s good!
I don’t remember and live out of this perfectly all the time, I would be the first one to admit (…well, mostly…) I mess up, I get upset, I throw pity parties, I complain, I overthink decisions and choices and making up my mind, I get frustrated.
But I’d believe that Jesus is changing me more and more into His image, into a picture of His Church, His Bride. Because when I mess up and heap guilt upon myself from sinful attitudes or actions, I apologize, I ask for forgiveness, I repent and turn back in obedience to what God has called me to.
God is the God of Redemption through His perfection working in me.
Working in you.
His church is made up of individuals being changed by His Perfection, His Spirit, His Beauty, into His Loveliness.
It is a wonder to behold His Work, in individuals, in His body as a whole, and in His Kingdom that is brought to earth by grace-filled love in action.
I’ve seen Him show up in my life through His Church. I’ve seen Him show up in others’ lives through His Church. I’ve witnessed His change, and it emboldens me to walk and live in Truth.
He is everlasting, from age to age, and His Kingdom shall be just the same.
I want to be a part of that eternal work. I know one day I will live in His presence and forever praise Him for the ways He has made me into His Image.
This world, this life we are now living is but a training ground for eternity.
There is a verse, in Revelation I believe, that talks about how we are being prepared for our work in eternity.
I can’t wait.
Even though it may seem so long, it’s closer than you might think. Isn’t that exciting? To know for a certainty that we will live in eternity with Him, if we live in Him here on earth.
Eternity with Jesus. Our purpose for living out our God-given womanhood joyfully and gracefully here on earth.
How ponderously astounding…
Shalom
